WhatWhat the Consulate Does
The Dubai Consulate is Nepal’s front-line mission for Dubai and the Northern Emirates, complementing the Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Its core mandate—spelled out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—covers:
- Passport services – renewal, lost/damaged replacements, new MRPs.
- Emergency Travel Document (ETD) issuance for stranded Nepali nationals.
- Visa services – tourist & business visas to Nepal for third-country residents.
- Document attestation – birth, marriage, academic certificates, police reports, labour contracts.
- Labour approval & grievance handling – verifying work permits, helping resolve employer disputes, coordinating repatriations.
- Community support & protection – assistance during accidents, legal issues, or bereavement.
- Economic & cultural diplomacy – promoting trade, tourism, and investment opportunities between Nepal and the UAE.
Visiting Tips
- Book online first – the consulate aims to introduce e-appointments; check the website/Facebook before you go.
- Bring originals & copies – passports, Emirates ID, photos (35 × 45 mm), fee in cash or card.
- Arrive early – token distribution usually closes by midday.
- Dress modestly & be respectful – it is a diplomatic premise.
- Nearest Metro – Abu Hail Station (Green Line); 8-10 min walk. Taxis can drop you right at the villa gate.
Leadership
Mr Hari Prasad Odari presented his Letter of Commission as the first Consul-General on 11 June 2025, after two decades of diplomatic service in Kathmandu and abroad.
Why It Matters to the Nepali Community
With around 600,000+ Nepalese living and working in the UAE, quick access to passport renewals, labour-right verification, and emergency assistance saves time, money, and stress. The Dubai post shortens the journey for residents of Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Ras Al Khaimah, who previously had to travel to the Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
Quick Note: Always verify holiday closures on the official Facebook page before visiting—the consulate observes both Nepali and UAE public holidays.
