Nepal–UAE Economic Engagements Gain Strong Momentum Through High-Level Meetings

The Nepal–UAE economic partnership received renewed momentum following a series of high-level meetings led by Tej Bahadur Chhetri, Ambassador of Nepal to the United Arab Emirates, accompanied by Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), with senior officials and business leaders across the UAE.

Meeting with Ajman Chamber

At a meeting held at the Ajman Chamber office, the Nepali delegation met with Abdullah Mohammed Al Muwaiji, Chairman of the Ajman Chamber.
The discussion focused on expanding trade and investment opportunities between Nepal and the UAE, particularly in tourism, agriculture, and Nepali export products. Both sides also explored the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FNCCI and the Ajman Chamber to promote institutional collaboration, facilitate investment flows, and strengthen private-sector partnerships.

Engagement with UAE Ministry of Economy

In Dubai, the delegation held a productive meeting with Abdulla Ahmed Al Saleh, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, UAE.
The talks emphasized deepening Nepal–UAE bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in economic, trade, and investment sectors. Priority areas highlighted during the meeting included hydropower, tourism, agro-processing, large-scale infrastructure, aviation, and the IT sector. Both sides acknowledged the strong potential for mutually beneficial investments and expressed commitment to advancing collaboration through concrete initiatives.

Meeting with Sharjah Chamber

The Nepali delegation also met with Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at the Chamber’s office in Sharjah.
Discussions centered on business potential, trade, investment, tourism, and broader economic cooperation, with special emphasis on introducing Nepali products to the UAE market. The meeting highlighted Sharjah’s role as a major commercial hub and its suitability as a gateway for Nepali exporters and entrepreneurs.

A Strong Signal for Economic Cooperation

These high-level engagements reflect a shared commitment by Nepal and the UAE to elevate economic diplomacy, encourage private-sector participation, and unlock new avenues for sustainable growth. The meetings underscore growing interest from UAE institutions in Nepal’s emerging sectors and reaffirm Nepal’s readiness to welcome foreign investment.

The Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi continues to play a proactive role in facilitating dialogue, strengthening institutional linkages, and promoting Nepal as a reliable partner for trade and investment in the Gulf region.
