The Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi organized the “Nepal–UAE Economic Partnership” programme on 9 July 2026 at the Conrad Hotel, Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi.
The event aimed to promote Nepal as an attractive destination for trade, investment, tourism, technology and business collaboration while further strengthening economic relations between Nepal and the United Arab Emirates.
Nepal Welcomes Greater UAE Investment
The programme commenced with a message from Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shishir Khanal, who welcomed increased participation from UAE investors and businesses in Nepal’s priority sectors.
He reaffirmed the Government of Nepal’s commitment to facilitating long-term and mutually beneficial partnerships between businesses and investors from both countries.
The programme was attended by senior UAE government officials, policymakers, business leaders, investors and entrepreneurs.
The guests included H.E. Fahad Al Gergawi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade, and H.E. Juma Mohammed Al Kait, Adviser to the UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism and Treasurer of the Abu Dhabi Chamber.
Significant Potential for Bilateral Cooperation
Nepal’s Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Tej Bahadur Chhetri, highlighted the long-standing friendly relationship between Nepal and the UAE during his keynote address.
He emphasized the significant potential for expanding bilateral economic cooperation and presented Nepal’s favourable investment environment, ongoing economic reforms and opportunities across several sectors.
The Ambassador encouraged UAE investors and businesses to explore opportunities in Nepal, particularly in:
- Clean energy and hydropower
- Tourism and hospitality
- Commercial agriculture
- Information and communication technology
- Manufacturing
- Infrastructure development
- E-commerce and the digital economy
- Herbal and pharmaceutical industries

Presentations on Nepal’s Economy and Investment Climate
The programme featured four thematic presentations covering Nepal’s economy, investment environment, taxation framework, trade opportunities and rapidly developing technology sector.
Ms. Ranjita Dahal, Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission, delivered a presentation on Nepal’s economic landscape and bilateral opportunities. She provided an overview of Nepal’s economy, tourism potential, investment climate and emerging business sectors.
Mr. Manoj Paudel from the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry presented Nepal’s trade and investment potential, business priorities and opportunities available to international investors.
Mr. Abi Man Joshi of Deloitte & Touche, Abu Dhabi, explained the UAE–Nepal investment and taxation landscape, including the legal and regulatory frameworks governing bilateral investment.
Mr. Sajan Sharma, former President of Fintech Alliance Nepal, presented Nepal’s ICT development and policy reforms. He highlighted opportunities in digital transformation, innovation, technology and Nepal’s growing digital economy.
More Than 120 Guests Attend the Programme
More than 120 guests attended the event, including UAE government officials, policymakers, chief executive officers, investors, entrepreneurs, technology experts and representatives from airlines, travel and tourism companies.
The programme was also attended by professionals, media representatives, members of the Non-Resident Nepali Association and members of the Nepali business community in the UAE.
Cultural performances and displays of Nepali handicrafts were included in the programme. Guests also received promotional materials featuring Nepali orthodox tea.
A promotional video showcasing Nepal’s trade and investment opportunities was screened, and the event concluded with a networking reception.
The programme was conducted by Ms. Sonja Dotel, Third Secretary at the Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi.
The Nepal–UAE Economic Partnership programme represents an important step towards increasing bilateral trade, attracting UAE investment into Nepal and creating stronger connections between businesses from both countries.
