The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has announced stringent new traffic laws effective from March 29, 2025. These regulations aim to significantly enhance road safety.
संयुक्त अरब इमिरेट्स (UAE) सरकारले मार्च २९, २०२५ देखि नयाँ ट्राफिक नियम लागू गर्दैछ, जसमा सडक सुरक्षा बढाउन कडा सजाय र भारी जरिवाना तोकिएको छ। यी नियमहरूमा जे-वाकिङ, मादक पदार्थ र लागुऔषध सेवन गरेर सवारी चलाउने, दुर्घटना भएपछि भाग्ने, निलम्बित वा गलत लाइसेन्स प्रयोग गरी गाडी चलाउने, तथा लापरबाहीले मृत्यु निम्त्याउने लगायतका अपराधहरू पर्दछन्। यस्ता अपराधमा जेल सजाय तथा न्यूनतम ५,००० देखि अधिकतम २,००,००० दिरामसम्मको जरिवाना लाग्नेछ। युएईमा बस्ने नेपाली समुदायलाई यस्ता नियम पालना गरी सुरक्षित रहन अनुरोध गरिएको छ।
Key Rules and Penalties:
1. Jaywalking
- Crossing roads from undesignated areas causing traffic accidents will incur fines ranging from Dh5,000 to Dh10,000 and possible imprisonment.
- On roads with speed limits of 80 km/h or higher, penalties include at least three months imprisonment and a minimum fine of Dh10,000.
2. Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
- Penalties for driving under alcohol influence range from Dh20,000 to Dh100,000 and imprisonment. License suspension for first-time offenders is three months, six months for the second offense, and cancellation for the third.
3. Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
- Driving under drug influence attracts fines from Dh30,000 to Dh200,000 and imprisonment. License suspension is six months for the first offense, one year for the second, and cancellation thereafter.
4. Hit-and-run Incidents
- Fleeing an accident scene without assisting injured persons can lead to imprisonment of up to two years and fines ranging from Dh50,000 to Dh100,000.
5. Driving with Suspended or Unrecognized Licenses
- Driving with a suspended license carries penalties of up to three months imprisonment or a minimum fine of Dh10,000.
- Using an unrecognized foreign license results in fines from Dh2,000 to Dh10,000 for the first offense, escalating to minimum three months imprisonment and fines from Dh5,000 to Dh50,000 for repeat offenses.
6. Driving Without a License or Incorrect License Type
- First-time offenders face penalties of up to three months imprisonment or fines from Dh5,000 to Dh50,000. Repeat offenders receive minimum three months imprisonment and fines from Dh20,000 to Dh100,000.
7. Causing Death Due to Negligence
- Causing a fatality due to negligence results in minimum fines of Dh50,000 and imprisonment. Aggravated cases (running red lights, substance influence, suspended license, flood-prone driving) carry penalties of at least one year imprisonment and minimum fines of Dh100,000.
